I've been using CachyOS as my daily operating system for quite a while now, and it has become my favorite Linux distribution.
What stands out the most is how lightweight and incredibly fast it feels. From boot times to launching applications, everything is responsive and smooth. The performance optimizations built into CachyOS make a noticeable difference compared to many other distributions I've tried.
I use CachyOS for all of my everyday tasks, including web browsing, media consumption, document editing, and general productivity work. It has been stable and reliable throughout my daily use.
I'm also a software developer, and CachyOS has been an excellent environment for coding. The Arch-based ecosystem gives me access to up-to-date packages, while the system itself stays lean and efficient. CachyOS is one that has been recommended to me. I may try it out in the near future to see if it has any benefits over Fedora.
I've been back to distro hopping recently, and I've fallen on MX Linux at the moment. I don't think I'll stick with it since its Debian-based with updates every 2 years and it seems it has no in-place upgrade system. I still have access to Fedora's more up to date package manager through Distrobox, a cool software I learned of while using Bazzite.
The thing with MX Linux is it makes Xfce look so good by default, I never knew it could look that good as everytime I've seen it on other distros it looked ugly. I've learned its highly customizable, so I may try Xfce on CachyOS or Fedora once I'm done with MX Linux.
I know exactly what you mean. Yeah I recently tried Fedora again and I like it though currently I am running on Kubuntu. Looks like I am also hopping again a bit... Lol..
I am also running Cachy! After a bunch of distro-hopping I found I just could not beat Cachy OS' performance on my systems, even on some of my older laptops. My main use cases are like Andre's minus the software development. To be honest, I was hesitant to try Cachy at first because of all the memes about Arch Linux users and how complex/scary that distro is. My experience has been great with it.
I recently tried to install CachyOS, the installer seemed to fail to install the proper graphical drivers and it ended up not working, even though the live environment worked just fine. I may try again in the future with a more updated installation media (I was using a DVD I got from Linux Magazine, it might not be completely up to date).
For now I've gone back to Fedora 44, and I'm giving Wayland another chance. Its on the gaming laptop, so it should work fine.
