The Linux Association of Canada works with schools, colleges, universities, libraries, community organizations, and other educational partners to expand access to Linux, open-source technologies, and practical digital skills. Through collaboration, we aim to inspire curiosity, encourage innovation, and help Canadians develop the confidence to explore technology in an open and inclusive learning environment.

Every educational institution has unique goals and challenges. Whether you are introducing Linux into a classroom, organizing a technology event, or looking for additional educational resources, we would be pleased to work with you to develop programs that complement your existing initiatives.

Who We Partner With

The Linux Association of Canada welcomes opportunities to collaborate with organizations of all sizes across Canada. School Outreach Program

Our School Outreach Program introduces students and educators to the world of Linux and open-source software through engaging presentations, live demonstrations, and hands-on learning activities. Rather than focusing only on technology, we aim to show how open-source software encourages creativity, collaboration, and lifelong learning.

Depending on the audience, presentations may explore topics such as:

The Linux Association of Canada offers workshops for students, educators, IT staff, and community groups that provide practical experience using Linux and open-source software. Whether participants are completely new to Linux or looking to expand their existing knowledge, workshops are designed to be welcoming, interactive, and beginner friendly.

Supporting Educators

Educators already do an incredible job preparing students for the future, and our goal is to support that work—not replace it.

The Linux Association of Canada can provide educational resources, technical expertise, guest presentations, and practical demonstrations that enrich existing courses. We are also happy to collaborate with instructors who wish to introduce Linux or open-source technologies into computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, engineering, or digital literacy programs.

Where appropriate, we can also assist with identifying open-source alternatives to commercial software, helping schools reduce costs while giving students valuable experience with technologies widely used throughout industry.
