The Linux Association of Canada exists to support Canadians on their open-source journey. While we may not always have every answer ourselves, we can often point you in the right direction, connect you with community resources, or help you find the information you need.

Our goal is simple: make Linux and open-source technology more approachable, more accessible, and easier for everyone to use.

How We Can Help

Every request is different, and that's perfectly okay.

Some people contact us because they're completely new to Linux and don't know where to begin. Others are looking for educational opportunities, community groups, or information about open-source software. Organizations may be interested in partnerships, events, workshops, or volunteer opportunities.

We are happy to assist with a wide variety of questions, including:

Exploring these resources first can often provide an immediate answer while helping you discover additional information that may be useful.

Our Approach to Support

The Linux Association of Canada is a volunteer-driven, federally incorporated non-profit organization. While we strive to respond to every inquiry, response times may vary depending on volunteer availability and the complexity of the request.

We believe that support should be friendly, respectful, and encouraging. Everyone starts somewhere, and no question is "too simple." Whether you're taking your first steps with Linux or have years of experience, we'll do our best to provide helpful guidance in a welcoming and inclusive manner.

Connecting You with the Community

One of the greatest strengths of Linux is its community.

Across Canada, thousands of volunteers, user groups, educators, developers, and technology enthusiasts generously share their knowledge and experience. In many cases, connecting you with your local Linux community may be the fastest and most valuable form of assistance available.

If a local Linux User Group, community organization, or partner can better support your request, we'll gladly help you find the right connection.

After all, one of the core values of open source is people helping people.

What We Can't Do

While we're happy to provide guidance and general assistance, there are a few services we are unable to offer.

The Linux Association of Canada does not provide commercial technical support, emergency IT services, remote repair of personal computers, password recovery, data recovery, or support for proprietary software that falls outside our mission.

We also cannot guarantee solutions for every hardware or software issue. However, whenever possible, we'll point you toward trusted documentation, community resources, or organizations that may be able to help.
