Setting up a server

Hi,

I am thinking of setting up a local server. I am so torn and twisted which distribution touse. On my computer I do some ditro hopping sometimes although I have focused pretty much on Fedora lately.

any suggestions which distro to use for the server?

Traditionally I’ve used RedHat, CentOS or AlmaLinux on the server side, but Fedora became so good at in place upgrades it’s been my goto for home servers for the past 3 years now. In the cloud I still tend to AlmaLinux though. But I gave up distro hopping years ago and stick to a small set of distros now.

Thanks. That helped to make a decision. As I mentioned I am on Fedora for a whilenow and I really like that one, so I will stick to it for the server.

Just wanted to note that I just upgraded my home everything server (Plex, Elasticsearch, backups, etc, etc) from Fedora 43 to Fedora 44 without issue. I initially installed Fedora 30 on this machine in 2019, and every major upgrade has gone without issue. I usually wait a month or more after a release though.
