Today, we're excited to celebrate an important milestone for the Canadian Linux Association's Open Source Projects Library: we have officially surpassed 377 Canadian open source projects.

What began as an effort to showcase Canadian innovation has quickly grown into one of the most comprehensive collections of Canadian-founded and Canadian-developed open source projects available in a single place. From infrastructure and cloud technologies to educational platforms, scientific research tools, government solutions, security applications, developer frameworks, and community-driven initiatives, the library highlights the incredible breadth of open source development happening across Canada.

Open source has always been about more than software. It is about collaboration, transparency, learning, and the belief that great technology is built when communities work together. Every project in our library represents countless hours contributed by developers, maintainers, designers, writers, testers, and community members who choose to share their work openly with others.

As we expanded the library, one thing became clear: Canada has a far larger and more vibrant open source ecosystem than many people realize. Innovative projects are being created by startups, established companies, universities, government organizations, nonprofits, and independent developers from coast to coast. Many of these projects are solving real-world problems while contributing valuable technology back to the global open source community.

The library now serves several purposes. It helps developers discover projects they can contribute to, allows organizations to showcase their work, provides visibility for maintainers seeking contributors, and demonstrates the impact that Canadian open source development has both nationally and internationally.

While reaching 377 projects is a significant achievement, this milestone is only the beginning. We know there are many more Canadian open source projects waiting to be discovered and documented. Over the coming months, we plan to continue expanding the library, improving project information, highlighting maintainers and contributors, and making it easier for visitors to find projects based on technology, location, industry, and contribution opportunities.

We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the growth of this initiative. Whether you've submitted a project, contributed code, maintained documentation, organized a community event, or simply helped spread the word, you have played a role in building this resource.

If you know of a Canadian open source project that isn't yet listed, we'd love to hear about it. Together, we can continue building a comprehensive showcase of Canadian open source innovation and ensure that these projects receive the recognition they deserve.

Here's to the next 100 projects—and beyond.

Together, we build better. Openly.
