When we officially launched the Linux Association of Canada website on May 10, 2026, we knew we were starting something ambitious. Our goal wasn't simply to build another website—it was to create a national home for Canada's Linux and open-source community.

Today, we're excited to share an important milestone.

Since our launch, the Linux Association of Canada has welcomed more than 8,000 unique, genuine visitors to our website.

For a young, volunteer-driven, federally incorporated non-profit organization, this is incredibly encouraging. Every visitor represents someone interested in Linux, open source, digital literacy, cybersecurity, education, digital sovereignty, or simply learning more about what we're building together.

But numbers alone aren't what matter most.

What excites us is seeing the community continue to grow.

Over the past weeks, we've welcomed new volunteers, established partnerships with organizations across the open-source ecosystem, expanded our Linux for Canada initiatives, published educational resources, connected with Linux User Groups across the country, and begun conversations with industry leaders, educational institutions, and government organizations.

This milestone tells us one thing: there is a growing interest in building a stronger open-source community in Canada.

Our work is only beginning.

In the months ahead, we'll continue expanding our educational programs, launching new community initiatives, supporting Linux User Groups, hosting webinars and workshops, growing our volunteer network, and building partnerships that help make Linux and open source more accessible to Canadians.
