We are currently looking for a DevOps Manager in Oakville, Ontario.
People Management & Delivery Leadership - 25%
• Managed and supervised a team of software engineers and DevOps engineers, including task assignment, performance evaluation, and career development.
• Established team objectives, defined roles and responsibilities, and ensured alignment with organizational goals and delivery timelines.
• Led workforce planning, onboarding, and training initiatives to build a scalable and high-performing engineering team.
• Conducted regular performance reviews, coaching sessions, and implemented improvement plans to enhance team effectiveness.
• Planned and directed Agile delivery activities, including sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and execution.
• Allocated resources based on business priorities, capacity planning, and team strengths to ensure optimal productivity.
• Served as the primary escalation point for delivery risks, production issues, and cross-functional dependencies.
• Partnered with Product, Architecture, and Business stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into execution plans.
Delivery Ownership & Operational Management - 20%
• Planned, coordinated, and directed DevOps delivery across multiple projects within the AWS contact center platform.
• Accountable for successful delivery of initiatives within scope, schedule, and quality standards.
• Monitored operational performance, identified risks, and implemented corrective actions to ensure service continuity.
• Directed incident management and operational response processes to minimize downtime and business impact.
• Ensured adherence to organizational policies, security standards, and compliance requirements.
• Acted as the primary escalation point for operational issues and ensured timely resolution.
Strategy, Governance & Decision-Making - 20%
• Developed and implemented DevOps strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with business and technology objectives.
• Established governance frameworks for release management, deployment approvals, and production change control.
• Evaluated and approved technical solutions, tools, and vendor platforms based on scalability, cost, and risk considerations.
• Collaborated with senior leadership to define technical roadmaps and long-term platform strategy.
• Participated in budgeting, resource planning, and cost optimization initiatives for cloud infrastructure and tooling.
• Drove continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and delivery performance.
Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps Platform Oversight - 25%
• Directed the management and operation of enterprise-scale AWS infrastructure supporting contact center systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.
• Oversaw the implementation and operation of CI/CD platforms and GitOps practices to support application delivery.
• Governed usage of AWS services including Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, IAM, Amazon Connect, and related technologies.
• Monitored system performance, availability, and cost efficiency, ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
• Approved infrastructure changes and ensured alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
• Established operational controls and performance metrics to ensure platform stability and efficiency.
Multi-Cloud Program Oversight & Platform Engineering - 10%
• Oversaw the delivery and implementation of GCP-based projects, providing architectural direction, governance, and leadership without direct hands-on development.
• Managed and coordinated software engineering and DevOps teams across multi-cloud environments, ensuring alignment with business objectives and enterprise standards.
• Directed the architecture and implementation of a Kubernetes-based DevOps platform on AWS EKS to standardize CI/CD and GitOps practices.
• Approved platform designs leveraging technologies such as Kubernetes, Tekton, Argo CD, and Grafana to support scalable and reliable operations.
• Established platform governance, deployment standards, and operational controls across teams.
• Supervised onboarding of applications onto the platform, improving delivery efficiency and operational scalability.
Skills & Experience
• 10+ years of overall experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in leading and managing DevOps or engineering teams.
• Proven experience leading DevOps teams in AWS-based environments, with strong expertise in contact center platforms such as Amazon Connect and Genesys Cloud (IVR systems)
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
• Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Bitbucket, Bamboo, Jenkins, and UrbanCode Deploy.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services, including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, CloudWatch, CloudFront, IAM, KMS, and Secrets Manager.
• Experience in on premises to AWS cloud migration initiatives.
• Proven ability to review architecture/design and provide technical guidance.
• Experience in monitoring and observability using tools such as Splunk and Datadog.
• Strong understanding of security practices, including IAM roles/policies and SSL/TLS certificate management.
• Experience supporting production deployments, incident management, and outage resolution.
• Proficiency in scripting and programming (Python, Node.js, Java, or PHP) for automation and tooling.
• Experience working with high-volume, transaction-heavy systems and performance optimization.
• This role requires a strong balance of technical leadership, architectural oversight, and hands-on DevOps expertise in enterprise environments.
Certifications
• AWS Academy Cloud Architecting.
• HashiCorp Certified Terraform Associate.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate. (preferred)
• AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner. (preferred)
