What We Offer • Opportunity to work on large-scale cloud transformation projects • Exposure to enterprise Azure architectures • Collaborative consulting environment • Competitive compensation • Flexible hybrid work environment About The Opportunity Opticca Consulting is seeking a highly experienced Senior RHEL Engineer to design, build, secure, automate, and support enterprise Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments across physical, virtual, and cloud infrastructure. The role requires deep operating-system expertise, disciplined automation, and the ability to diagnose complex issues across compute, identity, networking, storage, security, performance, and application dependencies. You can expect to • Design, build, configure, harden, patch, upgrade, and support RHEL servers across data-centre, virtualization, container, and cloud environments. • Create and maintain standardized server builds, configuration baselines, repositories, lifecycle policies, and automated provisioning workflows. • Administer Red Hat Satellite, content views, lifecycle environments, activation keys, host groups, repositories, subscriptions, and patch compliance. • Integrate Linux systems with enterprise identity and access services using Red Hat IdM, Active Directory, SSSD, Kerberos, LDAP, sudo policies, certificates, and MFA where applicable. • Configure and troubleshoot networking, DNS, time synchronization, firewalls, SELinux, filesystems, LVM, multipathing, NFS, SMB, iSCSI, and related services. • Implement security hardening and compliance controls based on organizational standards and recognized benchmarks; remediate vulnerabilities and audit findings. • Automate provisioning, configuration, patching, validation, compliance, and operational tasks with Ansible Automation Platform and scripting. • Monitor and tune CPU, memory, I/O, filesystem, kernel, network, and application performance; diagnose complex service degradation and outages. • Plan and execute major-version upgrades, migrations, platform refreshes, high-availability configurations, backup, recovery, and disaster-recovery testing. • Develop build documents, standards, runbooks, troubleshooting guides, implementation plans, and knowledge-transfer materials; provide senior escalation support. Must haves Required Qualifications • Five or more years of hands-on enterprise Linux administration, with deep experience supporting RHEL production environments. • Advanced knowledge of RHEL installation, boot, systemd, kernel, packages, repositories, filesystems, LVM, networking, security, and performance analysis. • Hands-on experience with Red Hat Satellite and enterprise patch, subscription, repository, and lifecycle management. • Experience integrating Linux with Active Directory or Red Hat IdM and troubleshooting authentication, authorization, certificates, and name-resolution issues. • Strong understanding of SELinux, firewalld/nftables, vulnerability remediation, secure configuration, logging, auditing, and least-privilege administration. • Proficiency with Ansible, shell scripting, Git, and automated build and operational practices. • Proven ability to work independently on complex incidents while coordinating effectively with application, database, network, storage, and security teams. • Professional working proficiency in French; English is required for collaboration with clients, vendors, and technical teams outside Quebec. Preferred Assets • RHCSA, RHCE, Red Hat Certified Specialist, or comparable certification. • Experience with RHEL High Availability Add-On, Pacemaker/Corosync, Red Hat Insights, Satellite Capsule, or disconnected environments. • Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, Azure, AWS, OpenShift, or OpenStack. • Experience with enterprise migrations, in-place upgrades, SAP or database platforms, or regulated environments. Education and Certification • College diploma or university degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. • Applicable Red Hat and industry certifications are valued but do not replace demonstrated hands-on capability.
