The distribution includes support for booting on UEFI-enabled machines.

Accessible-Coconut (AC) is a community driven GNU/Linux distribution which is completely accessible for persons with visual impairments. It is derived from Ubuntu MATE. The project's goal is to develop an eyes-free desktop environment. Some of the features of the distribution include screen reader, print reading, six-key input, accessible audio and video editing solutions, ebook speaker, screen magnification facilities, and accessible disk management solutions, among various others.

AçorOS is a set of minimalist live Linux distributions based on Debian's "Stable" branch. Created in collaboration with the developers of Peppermint Linux, AçorOS offers four separate images with Cinnamon, LXQt, Openbox and Xfce user interfaces. The distribution's focus is on ease of use, simplified system installation and configuration, and carefully designed visual appearance.

AcreetionOS is an Arch-based, desktop-oriented Linux distribution that aims to be user-friendly, approachable and stable. It has a policy of holding back new packages for a week of testing to provide a buffer against potential upstream issues. It uses the popular Calamares installer with sensible defaults to get a working system up and running quickly. The preferred desktop environment of AcreetionOS is Cinnamon, but an alternative image with the GNOME desktop is also available.

Adélie Linux is an independently-developed Linux distribution for desktops and servers. It uses the musl standard C library, GNU Coreutils-based userland, the APK package manager (developed by Alpine Linux), and OpenRC and s6 init systems. The project's desktop edition offers a choice of four desktops - KDE Plasma, LXQt, MATE and Xfce, while the supported processor architectures include AArch64, armv7l, i386, PPC, PPC64 and x86_64. The distribution is developed by a Canadian IT services company called Cyberlogic, founded in 1995.

Aeon is an immutable desktop Linux distribution based on openSUSE. It is a relatively small, low-maintenance system with automated daily updates, thus recommended for Linux beginners or "lazy developers". Some of the distribution's other features include a custom system installer called Transactional Installation Kit (TIK), a pre-configured GNOME desktop, out-of-the-box support for Flatpak packages, Distrobox configured to launch Tumbleweed containers, and automatic rollbacks to its last working state.

AerynOS is an independently-developed, rolling-release Linux distribution designed for general desktop use. Its main features include the GNOME desktop, a custom package manager called "moss", atomic updates with rollback options, a package build system called "boulder", and smart boot management with complex EFI configuration through a utility called "blsforme".

AfagOS, a sister project of AgarimOS, is a Void-based Linux distribution featuring a vanilla KDE Plasma desktop. Like all distributions based on Void, it uses the XBPS package manager with the OctoXBPS graphical frontend and the Topgrade meta-updater. The distribution is free of systemd, using the runit init system instead.

It comes in several popular desktop flavours, including Cinnamon, GNOME, KDE Plasma, LXQt, MATE and Xfce, all with a limited set of applications in their default states. Like its parent, AgarimOS does not use the systemd service manager, relying instead on the runit init scheme. It employs the XBPS package management system, together with a graphical front-end called OctoXBPS. The distribution also includes various optimisations, custom themes and some interesting software selection, such as the WezTerm terminal emulator, the Neofetch system information utility, the hBlock ad blocker, and the aria2 download tool.
